To make a user admin by using a group which is better than writing in all admin users in the sudoers file by default the admin group is wheel first make a group for admins ]$ sudo groupadd sudo create the user if not already created ]$ sudo adduser username add the user to the group ]$ sudo usermod -aG sudo username -a (append) → adds the user to a group without removing them from existing groups -G (groups) → specifies the group(s) to add the user to Ensure sudo group has privileges ]$ sudo visudo go to the group commands section and add this line: ]$ %sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL ALL=(ALL) ALL → user can run commands as any user (default group behavior applies) ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL → user can run commands as any user AND any group so it is more explicit and complete
